Filipino children in jail

Video uploaded by preda1

There are issues that government, the media and some important sectors fail to address. I found this video from youtube, which talks about children in adult jails. A reporter from CNN posed as a social worker and was allowed to video the conditions of the minors inside the jail.

How can we have a progressive nation if our future are rotting in substandard conditions like this "kulungan". Asan na ang kaunlaran?

Quoting Madame

GMA on running for President in the 2004 Elections

“If I were to run, it will require a major political effort on my part. But since I’m among the principal figures in the divisive national events for the last two or three years, my political efforts can only result in never-ending divisiveness.

“In view of (this), I have decided not to run for President during the election of 2004.”

A few laughs

Filipinos have a very good sense of humor. Some are very creative to come up with witty, intelligent and sometimes just plain funny jokes addressed to -who else but the country's president. We all know that the "president" (I am one of those who doubts her legitimacy) is being accused of power grabbing, cheating, boy hunting, robbery and hold-up, kidnapping, murder and many others. She has been tagged as "evil bitch". We may hate her to the core, some love her all the way. But one thing we cannot argue are these jokes, created by the humor-loving Filipinos, are really funny:

...A frog went inside Malacanang Palace ..It deeply disturbed GMA because
when the frog croaked it said.....
"Korap! Korap! Korap!

3 surgeons trying to impress each other's skill:
Doc 1: I operated the arm of this guy and he's now a famous basketball star.
Doc 2: I operated the leg of this guy and now he's a famous marathon runner!
Doc 3: That's nothing. I put a mole on the face of this evil bitch and now she's the PRESIDENT!!

Most read

It is amusing to find that under the "most read" category of The Philippine Daily Inquirer's online version for today, are showbusiness articles. Filipinos really need a great dose of entertainment whether it is good or bad. Showbusiness in the Philippines is more than a just entertainment - it is a form of escape from the realities government bring to the tired readers.

The list below is the actual "most read" articles. The internet readers read about Rudy Fernandez's condition, Judy Ann's probable transfer from Abs-cbn to GMA 7.

* Rudy’s body rejects drugs, says Bong
* Judy Ann’s manager starts talks with GMA-7--source
* Marquez takes the long route in Pacquiao chase
* Pops' horrifying experience in Cebu
* ‘They will know what slavery means’
* Palace brushes off Judy Ann Santos’ system loss defense
* Clinton offers victorious Obama olive branch
* Rizal’s descendants file murder rap over brother’s death
* Awed by Anita Linda
* Fischer heiress to get share of P140-M estate soon
* Obama will be good friend to Israel -- Clinton
* Farmers to get P1,500 each for fertilizer

Only in the Philippines? Probably. But I doubt.

Senatorial wannabes

Efren Danaom, senior reported of the Manila Times, wrote about the probable senatorial administration for 2010.

At the House, the senatorial wannabees of Lakas has grown longer. Among those added in the list of possible senatorial candidates are former Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., Gov. Vilma Santos of Batangas, actress Dawn Zulueta, beauty queen Margie Moran and Chairman Edu Manzano of the Optical Media Board.

The other senators who are seeking a second term whose names were not among the initial list given by Nograles include Senators Miriam Defensor-Santiago and Juan Ponce Enrile. The early list included Senators Lito Lapid and Bong Revilla.
Among the names mentioned by Nograles as possible senatorial candidates for 2010 are the President’s son, Rep. Mikey Arroyo of Pampanga and Representatives Edcel Lagman of Albay, Monico Puentebella of Bacolod City, Abraham Mitra of Palawan, Ed Zialcita of ParaƱaque City, Art Defensor of Iloilo and Neptali Gonzales 2nd of Mandaluyong.

They gotta be kidding right?

Noli de Castro is being eyed for presidency and Mikey (the real man-bear-pig) is up for the Senate? I hope the administration can give us more credible choices.
